          The purpose this study was to survey the state and problems of the utilization of instructional folk media of elementary school teachers in the lower Northeastern provinces. The folk media in this study is local culture.

The finding indicated that :
          1. The folk media in the lower North Eastern provinces were mostly house – hold materials, which could be categorized as materials, followed by activities categories. However, when the folk media were being categorized as instructional media, activities were the majority followed by materials.
          2. The teachers were seldom used instructional folk media. Materials were the media mostly used by teachers, followed by tools and equipment. The frequency of used is once a year. Most teachers used media to teach practice. They taught content that not related to culture. The reasons of using folk media were to improve teaching, to ease explanation, change teaching atmosphere, and to make teaching completeness.
          3. The problems of using the instructional folk media were lack of media for the subject matter, no manual, need lots of preparation, and no efficient knowledge.
