The
purpose this research was to survey the state and problems of the utilization
of instructional folk media of elementary school teachers in the upper
North Eastern region. The folk media in this study were local culture.
The findings indicated that :
1. The folk
media in the upper North Eastern region were mainly activities followed
by tools and equipment, and materials. The folk media that were identified
to be used as instructional folk media were the same order.
2. The majority
of teachers also agreed that most of folk media could be used as instructional
media. More commonly known for the teachers were people category. The
majority of teachers indicated that instructional folk media used in their
instruction were tools and equipment. They used tools and equipment in
teaching various steps of teaching process. The media were used mostly
in “Work-oriented Experiences” subject, and teaching the topic that was
not culture. The teachers also wanted to use tools and equipment to teach
various steps in teaching “Character Development” subject, and teaching
the topic on the culture.
3. The reasons
for using folk media were to clarify the lecture, to make the teaching
complete, support teaching, and changing teaching atmosphere. The reason
for not using the preferred folk media was inconvenient. The problem of
not using media was lack of media related to subject content.
